The Mee Kats started life in 2010 in NE England to perform 1950's rock n roll and rockabilly music. This rockin'
trio was developed by lead singer Colin Mee, who is a veteran of the UK rockin' scene, having played drums in well known rockabilly band the Sure Shots from 1984-1993. Colin is also lead singer of rockabilly trio The Skip Rats since 1987.

The other band members are Rob Brindley on lead guitar who hails from sunny Stoke who started his rockin' career with his band Ignition. Mandy Mee who plays double bass, started out playing with several bands before teaming up with husband Colin and forming hillbilly trio Root'n Toot'n alongside The Mee Kats. Mandy also makes 1950's style clothing for men ​www.mandymee.uk

To date The Mee Kats have five releases in the form of a 2 sided 7" vinyl 45rpm single, a 7 track CD "Everybody's Rockin....." a 14 track CD "All Dressed Up" and a 16 track CD "Let's Go Boppin". The 7" 45rpm features 2 tracks written by singer Colin Mee. "Rag Top Baby/Call My Name". The latest recording being a 14 track CD "Rocket Trip" released in October 2021.

The first of the CD's "Everybody's Rockin....." was released in March 2014. Opening track "I Don't Want It" written by Colin was aired on BBC Radio Tees on 15th March 2014.

In February 2016, the 14 track CD "All Dressed Up" was released. On this CD is a track written by Colin Mee called "Crazy Over You" which featured as record of the week on local BBC radio 15th-19th February 2016. The other original Colin Mee track on this release is "I'm On Fire" which was originally written for The Sureshots which they recorded in 1986. This song led to an appearance on Ben Elton's "Saturday Live" TV show on UK national televsion.

The bands latest 14 track CD  "Rocket Trip"  released October 2021 includes selected covers and brand new tracks written by the band. It is available to buy on CD via www.skiprecords.co.uk or digital download from most of the online stores such as Amazon, iTunes, Spotify etc
